When you’re choosing travel cards, you’ll start to get wooed by all of the amazing options there are, and wonder if you could trick them into giving you all the benefits at once. You’re not the first one to have that idea, and the credit card companies know it. It’s why they make the offers so tempting. They are betting on you to take a gamble, and lose.

But what happens when you win? This is what pro nomads and business folk call travel hacking.

Travel hacking is the fine art of manipulating travel credit cards to earn all of their rewards, without taking a huge hit to your debt-to-income ratio or your credit score. As you may know, there are five major factors that go into your credit score.

Notice that the number of new credit cards you request only makes up 10% of your score. Same with the number of accounts you have. FICO high earners (folks with a score higher than 785) tend to hold an average of seven credit cards at one time. And you thought having more than one was risky!
